ACTRA National Board Makes Exciting New Plans
For 2020 National Finals
The ACTRA National Board met at the New host hotel, the Nugget on January 25th and 26th
In Sparks Nevada.
The meeting was well attended as Directors from all Chapters were present. One of the first things that was decided was to expand the Finals one day. The finals will start on October 17th with “Ladies First Day” The day will start with the Girls Breakaway. This roping was a huge success last year and had one of the biggest visited web cast days of the week. The breakaway roping will be followed by a “All Girl” roping and end with a Muley roping, both new this year.
Another new change in 2020 will be the Official Saddle maker of ACTRA. After several years of great success Cactus Saddlery and ACTRA will go their separate ways. This was a mutual agreement as both parties shook hands and wished each other the best of luck in the future. The new saddle company will be Scott Thomas Trophy Saddles. Scott and ACTRA’s relationship goes back several years, as Scott wrote the first saddle contract for Cactus when he was head of their saddle division. ACTRA is excited to get started working with Scott and his Great team of saddle makers. Check back next month for updates on the National Finals saddle program.
The Board also decided to extend Skyline Silversmiths for another 3 years, Ryan Fowler has been a great partner for several years. The Champions of the Major ropings all get a Customized Buckle made specially for them. The Awards Committee is working with Ryan for some new awards in 2020.
Members will see great room rates and “no resort fees” The Nugget has some of the greatest restaurants , gaming and family entertainment that ACTRA Members has seen in a number of years. If you are headed to Reno in June you might want to check out the Nugget as they are working on special rates for ACTRA Members.
These are just a few changes you will see in 2020. Every year the Board is challenged to make the National Finals better and more exciting than the previous year. I feel the National Board is well on their way to make the Wrangler, Professional Choice, ACTRA National Finals the best yet. Make plans now to get qualified to attend this year on October 17th thru the 24th.
We will be doing monthly updates on the National Finals so check out the National website at actra.org or the Ropers Sports News
